Madigan Malbec '05 Napa ValleyPurchase Madigan Malbec '05 Napa Valley Produced & Bottled by: Madigan Cellars Napa, CA Older vineyards are the standard in Europe and are all too sadly, quite rare in Napa Valley. As land prices have forced replanting to varietals in vogue, this Malbec marks the last harvest of one man's passion to save his old vines. Upon his passing, this amazing fruit was hand harvested. As it was, a race to the finish, several wine makers were vying for the last harvest of this coveted fruit. This vineyard rests near the convergence of two of the most famous Napa appellations, Yountville and Oakville (Napa's resturant, Mustard's, on Hwy 29, practically sits on top of this vineyard!). As the race to pick this final harvest ensued, the bulldozers pushed from behind ripping up yet another noble vineyard. The Malbec grape is a thin-skinned grape and needs more sun and heat than either of its frequent companion, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It is normally kept to a low yield, resulting in fermenting a wine that is rich, dark and juicy. As varietals, it creates an intense wine, commonly used with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon to create the renown red French Bordeaux "claret" blend. As it happened, this unique find brings a rare opportunity to the wine enthusiest in our midst! Call for pricing. Purchase Madigan Malbec '05 Napa Valley
